توفيت ملكة جمال فنزويلا السابقة، والتي تحمل درجة جامعية في القانون، عن عمر 68 عاما، وذلك بعد أن أمضت الخمسة عشر عاما الماضية مشردة في الشوارع دون مأوى.

وقالت صحيفة “ديلي ميل” البريطانية إن داماريس رويز (68 عاما) دخلت إلى عالم النجومية في عام 1973 عندما فازت بلقب ملكة جمال فنزويلا، مشيرة إلى انه عثر عليها متوفية في حديقة في العاصمة كراكاس هذا الأسبوع، ولم يأت أي شخص من عائلتها إلى المستشفى للتعرف عليها رغم إبلاغهم.

وعلى الرغم من شهرتها وشعبيتها آنذاك، إلا أن رويز لم تتمكن من العثور على عمل بسبب أخيها، الذي منعها من الخروج، وكان يضربها ويهددها بالموت، إلا أن هربت منه في عام 2000 وأصبحت مشردة في الشوارع.

وقال روزالبا غوميز، الذي كان يعرف رويز في العامين الأخيرين من حياتها “رأيتها مرتين أو ثلاث مرات في الأسبوع، وتحدثت معها لساعات طويلة”، وأضاف “كانت امرأة مثقفة، وامرأة جميلة من الداخل والخارج”.
